Crate Minds: Seahawks
Pete Fowler and Jon Tye are a couple of salty sea dogs who make wonderful, windswept, soft sand dance under the name of Seahawks.
Fowler is also a long-time guru of the arts known perhaps primarily for his Monsterism graphic universe and his ongoing work with Super Furry Animals, while Tye has a long and illustrious musical history that includes being captain of the good ship known as Lo Recordings. So it goes without saying that as well as being lovers of out-there atmospherics, they also admire a special sleeve. Here are some of their favourites, plus a mix they've made from tracks off albums within these sleeves.
Seahawks new album 'Invisible Sunrise' is out now.
Crate Minds: Special Problems
Special Problems are New Zealanders Campbell Hooper and Joel Kefali. "What's their buzz?" you say? Well the duo are deft hands at making magic out of misery, making the impossible possible.
They've made some smashing videos for Jonathan Boulet, Wolfmother and Tame Impala and other folks such as Flying Lotus too.
Here are some of their choice sleeves.
Crate Minds: Canyons
Canyons have surfaced from their studio and are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut album. Stay tuned for more details on that front real soon.
As part of their re-intergration to society, they invited us around while they went through their record collection, showing us some cool cover art and making this mix of said records. Enjoy.

Crate Minds: Mat Maitland from Big Active
Mat is creative director at London design studio Big Active - who have created sleeves for, amongst others, Goldfrapp, Beck, Das Pop, Architecture In Helsinki and Basement Jaxx. He is also an image maker in his own right creating collage illustrations which explore the nostalgic pop landscape from his youth.
We're big fans and caught up with him recently do get an insight into his record collection - and their covers.
Crate Minds: DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba
For many, Yo Gabba Gabba is a shining light of children's television programming.
It's the genuine mixture of kooky animation and characters along with incredible music that makes small children, teenagers, parents and everyone in-between love the program.
Some of the bands to feature on the show include Cornelius, Chromeo and MGMT.
We asked DJ Lance Rock for a peek inside his album collection, and here's what he came back with.
Crate Minds: Gavin Russom
Gavin Russom is a multitalented guy. He's released a stack of 12" through DFA. Before delving into music this he'd established himself as an artist. You might know him as Black Meteoric Star or recognise him from his music and art installation work with Delia Gonzalez.
Now he performs under the guise The Crystal Ark and is performing at Vivid.
We asked him to give us an insight into his record collection. He responded with these records and below mixtape using only the 10 records.
Crate Minds: Bamboo Musik DJs
Bamboo Musik is one of Melbourne's more unique monthly club nights. The concept was born during the dwindling moments of a house party and has now become a regular attraction in the club calendar. Expect dress up dance floors and a casual vibe of musical discovery. This week Rohan and Misha, the Bamboo Musik DJs, take us on a tour of the big record store in the cloud.
Bamboo Musik are performing along side The Crystal Ark at Mad Racket's Studio Party at Vivid Live.
Crate Minds: Cameron Bird from Architecture In Helsinki
Architecture In Helsinki are well known for their impecable taste both artistically and otherwise so it only seemed fitting to ask them to select a few album covers for Crate Minds. Below frontman Cameron Bird offers a collection gathered from travels far and wide with a few streams to take you there.

Crate Minds: Nazi Knife (Part 2)
This week it's Jonas' turn to take the stage and guide us through his cover art safari. In true Nazi Knife fashion Jonas' selection strays from the clean and considered to the extra-terrestrial.
